I don’t know about you, but I LOVE snow days. Especially days when the whole town shuts down and the only vehicles on the roads are snow plows.
Did I stay in my pajamas all day yesterday? Yes, yes I did!
Will I be staying in them today as well? Umm probably! Why not? It’s not like I’ll be going anywhere. 😉
Yesterday we awoke to a crazy amount of snow and it was pure magic I tell you. Pure magic.
I didn’t even notice the snow plows had boxed us {and everyone else} in overnight until the HH was out there with his snowblower trying to shift the snow from one side of the driveway to the other.
There was so much snow, he had to come inside three times just to get warm!!
First on the agenda was Lucy’s race track. 🙂 Lucy loves the snow.
She loves to run around like a little nutter for about a minute, eat some snow and then she’s ready to come inside and warm up on her heated blanket.
What a life!
The snow was just a weeeeeee bit deep at the end of the driveway.
Thank goodness we got all the Valentine’s Day decorations up before the big storm.
It’s not supposed to warm up {and by “warm I mean 30 degrees} until next week. 🙂 I think the pink hearts really stand out with all the snow.
And so does the blue door!
I love snow days. I firmly believe that if it’s going to be super cold, then there needs to be snow on the ground.
Now we have plenty.
Have a great day everyone!
Stay warm,
~ Mavis

Are those real evergreens by the front door? They are beautiful!
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! I bought them for the Christmas display and intend on planting them on the backside of the property in the spring. 🙂

Beautiful! I’m sure the hearts helped warm the hearts of all those out maintaining the roads and travelling to work when they’d rather have not!
Our town advertises this tip every year to help prevent the snow plows from dropping snow in your driveway: clear to the left (as if you were standing in your drive, facing the roadway), about 6-8 feet, or as long as possible depending on other obstacles. This allows the snow being pushed by the plow to be deposited in that “opening” and not in your drive!
Mavis Butterfield says
Hey that’s clever! I’ll tell the HH thanks!
Dianne says
Wow – that is great to now! Thank you!

I love the potted evergreens too, with the pink hearts. The blue door is perfection and the buoys totally pop against the snow. I love that everyone can now see that your property includes the two homes! Thanks for sharing the journey.

The blue door and decorations really do pop with the blanketing of snow. The house and shop look great!

Moved to So. Cal from Minneapolis almost 45 years ago. When I want to see snow I can see the mountains from the road, go home, open my windows, and bbq dinner on my patio. Going to play in my garden today. Enjoy your snow!

That pale blue is wonderful with the pink hearts, the evergreens, and the snow! And your Valentine’s decorations really make Snowmageddon look cheery instead of dreary.
Can you share the brand/name of that blue paint? It’s pretty much perfect.

Benjamin Moore robin’s egg. I love it!

Our previous storm dropped 80 inches of snow over a 3 day period. 80 inches! I do love when the world goes quiet and everything shuts down during a big snow fall … it’s all so beautiful and calm and still. Enjoy it.
Mavis Butterfield says
Holy cats that is a lot of snow. Wow!
Lynda Rees Kling says
You obviously don’t have to do any barn work! I hate the snow and all of the extra work with frozen buckets and manure to somehow get outside!
Tracy says
Mavis, Can you share where you found those fabulous giant square shaped, tall, tuteurs (trellises) alongside the house?
Tracy
P.S. I love the “Be Mine”
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! H Potter.I wrote about them here: https://www.onehundreddollarsamonth.com/h-potter-metal-obelisk-garden-trellis/

pooped puppy, what a life is right……looks like we got about the same amount of snow as you, all i know is it took me two hours to trudge through the snow to fill the feeders, beautiful but brutal

That front door treatment really is charming, Mavis. Shamed confession here: I am not a big fan of your whole fishing decoy thing. (sorry)
We only got about 4″ — and we live in Colorado’s mountains. But it is REALLY cold. A snowglobe I ordered from Amazon arrived here completely frozen, and leaking.
A good time for your dutch oven bread — and some homemade soup.

All of your snow reminds me of growing up in CT!! There were some heavy snows back in the 60s and 70s…We lived on a hill and all the homes were 1 to 2 acres. You put 6-7 kids on a heavy tobaggon in icy and snowy conditions we could sled for 1/4 mile!!! The Moms all had the same policy of kids going back the house…one time. So you stayed out until nearing frostbite or our bladder bursting! What fun we had…!! Thanks for reminding me…

Your blue door photo should grace the cover of a magazine!
